A number of you have asked me about CSS and Javascript Behaviours. Hence, I thought it would be useful to highlight the following to you:
Javascript Behaviours1) Standard Javascript Behaviours are provided in Dreamweaver. These are the ones that we have shown you in class. They include:
Pop-up message box
Roll-over swap images
Forms validation
Status-bar message
Jump menus
2) You can find notes on how to create Javascript Behaviours under Block 1 (Practical Lab Lessons) in VBUS or you can click on http://vbus-elearning.tp.edu.sg/vbus/file.php/191/BCS_AY200607/Macromedia_Dreamweaver/Proj4Lvl2a.doc to access the notes.
3) You do not need to know Javascript to include Behaviours in your website. The Behaviours have been created and made available in Dreamweaver for your use. The reason why they are called Javascript Behaviours is because they are coded using Javascript.
4) If you want to use other Behaviours not available in Dreamweaver, you can search the Internet for open source Javascript codes and incorporate them into your website as instructed.
5) You MUST include at least 2 types of Behaviours for your website.
Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)1) You MUST use some form of CSS in your website.
2) You can use CSS for creating styles for 2 purposes:
for achieving consistency in your web pages
for enhancing the look and feel of your web pages
3) To achieve consistency in your web pages, please export the styles you have created into a CSS style file and import the CSS style file into other web pages to achieve a consistent look and feel.

As we will be doing peer sharing in the first week of school (week of 26 June), please convey the following information to your team members :

Post LEARNING ISSUES from FILA chart onto Ole-BB under “Discussion Board”. The various groups (from T01 to T22) has been created. Please ensure that the groups post under the correct class group.

This needs to be done before the week of 26 June so that I can then decide which group to present on which learning area (e.g. Group 1 to present on Accommodation, Group 2 to present on Attractions, etc)

Please (the instructions are clearly written on Ole-BB) use sub-headings for learning issues as per the 5 main areas (Accommodation, Attractions, etc..etc….) in the case.


Something to share :
I have noticed that many students are “limited” by the FILA box. My advise is that you can do your FILA on Microsoft Word as follows :

Facts
1. Orchard Road is……
2. Etc..etc…
3. Etc…etc…

Ideas
1. Etc..etc…
2. Etc..etc.

You can then write down as many learning issues as possible in relation to the case without being limited by the boxes.

I hope you are progressing well for your BCS web project while enjoying your holidays.
The following are a few things to note for your web project:
Online Peer EvaluationYou are required to assess your group members online in the link sent to your TP email account. Please check your TP email account and complete the peer evaluation before 30 Jun (Fri).
The peer evaluation is private and confidential. Please provide an HONEST feedback for your group members' contribution to the project.
PowerPoint PresentationYou will give a 20 minutes presentation of your project in your group during your tutorial in the first week of the new term. Please include the following in your presentation:
1) An introduction of your business operation (e.g. hotels, restaurants, theme parks) and the objectives of your website
2) An overview of the Dreamweaver features and any other features or software used to create your website
3) A listing of the websites where you have extracted photos and material from
4) Proceed to show us your website and explain how you have made use of the features mentioned in item (2) in your website.
For your presentation slides, remember to make use of the Powerpoint features we taught you in week 2 of the semester and explore new features on your own.
Project Submission
Your web project will be due in 1 week's time on 26 Jun (Mon) at 9am. Please submit the following to your tutors before the due date and time. Students of Ms Angeline Khoo and Ms Susie Tan, please submit your projects to Ms Phyllis Chong at BS26-6-13.
